PROTECT OUR ENVIRONMENT:

To all Mining Corporations care for the environment is an ever important issue, one that requires special attention. ETF trucks are contributing considerably to protecting the environment and the ground up approach to truck design has incorporated many systems and components that work towards minimizing negative environmental impact.

ETF engines

ETF engineers carefully analyzed the advantages and savings made using ETF trucks. There are four items which contribute to environmental savings:

  • Reduction of emissions
  • Savings of raw materials
  • Reduction of waste handling
  • Reduction in logistics.

Reduction of emissions

All our trucks are standard equipped with engines certified to Off Highway EU Stage IIIA / EPA Tier 3 emissions regulations. Optional Tier 4i engines can be supplied. Most of the existing brands are using EPA Tier 1 engines.

Savings of raw materials:

Crude oil is limited. Both diesel fuel and mineral oils for lubrication of engine and hydraulic oils are made of crude oil. Roughly 416,000 kilo's of diesel fuel and mineral oils are saved per year with a single ETF truck. To compare the savings in tyres we had to calculate the weight of the tyres used with existing trucks and the ETF trucks because the size of the tyres are not the same. 23 tonnes per year per truck are saved.

Reduction of waste handling:

Mine sites are usually located away from main cities. Waste handling is most of the times a difficult and costly

affair. Due to ETF's considerable savings in tyre and mineral oil usage, waste handling is much lower. In the graphic below you see that nearly 50 metrics tons per year per truck is the reduction in waste handling.

Reduction of logistics:

The costs of logistics and the burden on the environment are important factors in mine management. Due to the fact that most mine sites are in remote areas it will certainly make an considerable impact when ETF trucks are proven to be more economical to operate. Approximately 390,000 kgs of fuel and 26,000 kgs of oils don't have to be transported. Also the transportation of nearly 50 metric tons of tyres will be saved by using a single ETF truck per annum.
